Following a rained-out first match without a ball being bowled between South Africa Emerging and Bangladesh Emerging in Pietermaritzburg, the second match produced a result in favor of the home side.

SA Emerging had first use of the pitch and opened with domestic teammates Alex Candler and Yasmeen Khan. Khan did not stay long as she was dismissed by Habiba Islam in the fourth over for 13. In came Miane Smit for the second wicket, joining Candler; the pair put on a 92-run partnership before Smit was dismissed for 49.

With the SA Emerging side on 109 for 2, wicketkeeper-batter Karabo Meso stepped up, scoring 26 from 33 balls before she was trapped LBW by Jannatul Ferdus. Western Province middle-order batter Faye Tunnicliffe came in for the third wicket, joining Candler for their 45-run partnership. Candler was finally dismissed for a well-played 85 by Sabikun Jasmin.

The rest of the batters rallied around Tunnicliffe (27) to get SA Emerging to a respectable score of 254 all out.

In defense of 255, SA Emerging started well with Nthabiseng Nini picking up the wicket of Shathi Rina (4) in the fourth over. Eliz-Mari Marx came to the party with the wicket of Rubya Haider (5) in the seventh over.
&nbp;
Then followed a Luyanda Nzuza show as the off-spinner took the next 3 wickets, which gave South Africa all the momentum, and her third was that of Bangladesh Emerging's main scorer Murshida Khatun (61). The visitors, 5 down on 132, still had hope, but once Afia Ashima was dismissed by Smit for 31, all hopes for a Bangladesh win were over. Smit would take two more wickets, and the rest were run-outs that restricted Bangladesh Emerging to 191 all out.

SA Emerging won the second One Day match by 65 runs, and the final match of the series will be played on 03 August in Pietermaritzburg.
