South Africa secured a 64-run victory over Zimbabwe in the second T20 International in Bulawayo, thanks to significant contributions from Anneke Bosch, Faye Tunnicliffe and Seshnie Naidu.
The visitors were given the first opportunity to bat and suffered an early setback when captain Laura Wolvaardt was dismissed for 10.
Bosch and Nondumiso Shangase then steadied the innings with a 64-run partnership from 41 balls for the second wicket. Bosch eventually fell for a 31-ball 65, before Shangase followed shortly afterwards for 23, dismissed by Lindokuhle Mabhero in the 12th over.
That brought Tunnicliffe and Annerie Dercksen together, with the pair putting on an unbeaten 88-run partnership to take South Africa to 193/3 from their 20 overs. Tunnicliffe finished with 52 from 34 balls, an innings that included four sixes and three boundaries. Dercksen provided the late acceleration from the other end, scoring an unbeaten 32 from just 20 balls, including two sixes and two fours.
Zimbabwe's chase got off to the worst possible start when Sharne Mayers was dismissed for a duck by Eliz-Mari Marx with the third ball of the innings.
Kelis Ndhlovu was the second wicket to fall, dismissed for 13 by Nthabiseng Nini in the sixth over. Beloved Biza, who had looked promising, was then dismissed by Seshnie Naidu for 10 from four balls.
Naidu continued to cause problems for the Zimbabwean batters, claiming the wickets of Loreen Tshuma for four and Nyasha Gwanzura for 18 to complete a three-wicket haul.
The next two wickets surprisingly came from Bosch, who rarely bowls, as she finished with excellent figures of 2/5. Naidu ended the innings with 3/26, while Marx and Nini claimed one wicket apiece. Zimbabwe finished on 126/7 from their 20 overs, with Christine Mutasa top-scoring with 30.
South Africa's victory gives them a second consecutive win in the series. The third and final T20 International between the two nations will be played on Tuesday at 13:30.
