pic cred: IPL
Kagiso Rabada's Gujarat Titans secured their first victory of the season, defeating the Delhi Capitals by a single run in a match that went down to the final ball. This narrow defeat marked the Capitals' first loss of the IPL campaign.
The Titans, batting first, posted a competitive total of 210 for 4. Jos Buttler played a crucial role, smashing a 27-ball 52, which included five sixes.
Lungi Ngidi, though only taking one wicket, proved economical, conceding just 24 runs in his four overs. His precise slower balls helped contain the Titans' batsmen, and he eventually claimed the key wicket of Shubman Gill (70 off 45 balls) in the 18th over.
Defending 210, the Titans' bowlers initially struggled to break through, as Pathum Nissanka (41) and KL Rahul forged a 76-run opening partnership. Rahul went on to score 92, currently the highest individual score of the season with 56 matches remaining.
Despite these contributions, David Miller, returning to the field after a finger injury, scored an unbeaten 41 off 20 balls, but it wasn't enough to secure the Capitals' third victory.
Rashid Khan proved a difficult challenge for the Capitals' batsmen, taking 3 for 17 in his four overs. Kagiso Rabada, although wicketless, made a vital contribution by conceding only 32 runs in his four overs, while the other bowlers were taken for over 11 runs per over.
The Titans will next face the Lucknow Super Giants on April 12th, while the Capitals will play the Chennai Super Kings away on April 11th.
