Cricket South Africa under the stewardship of Wandile Gwavu will tour England from 22 May until 9 June. Gwavu will mentor the SA A side for two 4-Day and three One-Day matches with Justin Ontong (batting coach), Rory Kleinveldt (bowling coach) and Jimmy Kgamadi (fielding coach).

"We've continued to back a core group of players who have shown consistency within the SA 'A' setup and for their domestic teams," said the SA A coach, Gwavu.

"This tour is a great chance for that group to test themselves in English conditions, and we know that someone like Dane brings a wealth of experience in those conditions. I'm looking forward to seeing him alongside Ottneil as we build towards a busy home summer and the opportunities it presents at Proteas level."

"A number of the one-day squad members were part of the recent T20 series against New Zealand, and this tour gives them another opportunity to keep learning, adapt to different conditions and grow their own game."

The SA A side will be captained by the Hollywoodbets Dolphins Marques Ackerman for both formats. His provincial teammate Nqobani Mokoena, who made his mark in the Betway SA20, will also be part of the tour and has been picked for both formats. Interestingly enough, Mokoena will likely make his SA A debut on this England tour after he has played three T20 matches for the Proteas. The Durban-born youngster was part of the squad which won the 5-match T20 series in New Zealand.

Mokoena will have experienced campaigners alongside Ottneil Baartman and Dane Paterson. Paterson will be crucial since he has a lot of experience playing in England. Codi Yusuf, who is currently in England, will join the side for the two 4-Day Series matches. Speedster duo of Gerald Coetzee and Kwena Maphaka will be part of the One-Day Series.

Prenalin Subrayen and Bjorn Fortuin will play both formats, and leg-spinner Nqaba Peter will only be part of the white ball leg of the tour.

The batting line-up looks formidable with Tony de Zorzi, Zubayr Hamza, Ackerman, and Rubin Hermann. Lesego Senokwane will look to bounce back to form, and Jordan Hermann returns from a hamstring injury he sustained in New Zealand.

Connor Esterhuizen and Lhuan-dre Pretorius will only be part of the One-Day Series, replacing Jordan and Senokwane. Sinethemba Qeshile will likely be the main wicketkeeper in the 4-Day Series but will get competition from Esterhuizen and Pretorius in the One-Day Series.

Jason Smith, Tiaan van Vuuren (red ball) and Dian Forrester (white ball) are the seam bowling all-rounders for the tour.
